The TV show Finala Naţională “Eurovision 2020” took place on February 29, 2020 and was the Moldovan preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam ( Netherlands ).
In the end, the singer Natalia Gordienko won the preliminary decision with the song Prison . Gordienko won the preliminary round in 2006 and represented the Republic of Moldova once at the Song Contest.

In the run-up there were already rumors that the state broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova (TRM) wanted to abolish the preliminary decision O Melodie Pentru Europe and wanted to determine the contribution directly. On December 28, 2019, TRM announced its plans for the Moldovan contribution to the 2020 Song Contest. The selection process should take place in two phases. In the first phase, a special organizing committee will review the submitted songs. If the contributions comply with the rules of the preliminary decision, they reach the second phase. The second phase then includes the live auditions , where all participants have to present their song live to a jury. Background singers, costumes, choreography and a stage design did not have to be considered. After all, the jury just wanted to get an impression of the interpreter and the contribution. What should happen after the second phase, TRM left open. In the rules, TRM stipulates that the jury could determine the Moldovan contribution internally after the live auditions . Otherwise, a preliminary decision could still take place if the jury does not classify any entry as particularly outstanding. On February 1, 2020, directly after the live auditions , TRM announced that the preliminary decision would take place on February 29, 2020 with 20 participants from the live auditions . The winner was then determined 50% by jury voting and 50% by televoting.
Choice of contribution
From December 28, 2019 to January 17, 2020, contributions could be submitted to TRM. However, only Moldovan citizens could apply to be singers. For bands or duets, 50% of the performers on stage then had to be Moldovan citizens. However, composers were free to choose whether they came from Moldova or from abroad. A total of 36 contributions were submitted
Live auditions
The live audotions took place on February 1, 2020 with 34 participants. Originally 37 participants were to proceed, but Che-MD feat Irina Revenco with the song Adio were disqualified. Diana Brescan, however, did not appear at the live auditions and was thus disqualified. Liusia Znamensky no longer wanted to be part of the selection process and so withdrew. In the end, a total of 20 participants were selected by a jury consisting of Anatol Chiriac, Gabriela Tocari, Andriano Marian, Paul Gămurari and Mihai Agafiță.

The final of O Melodie Pentru Europa took place on February 29, 2020 at the TRM Studios in Chișinău . A total of 20 performers competed against each other. The singer Natalia Gordienko won both the jury and the televoting.
