Geta Burlacu ( Russian Джета Бурлаку ; born July 22, 1974 in Bălți ; actually Georgeta Povorozniuc ) is a Moldovan jazz singer. She represented Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade .

biography

Geta Burlacu was born in Bălți , which was still Soviet at the time . She studied violin at the music academy in her hometown and jazz at the Moldovan Conservatory in Chișinău. Since then she has sung solo and with the bands Univox Vocal Band , Acid Grape and Right Horns .

Eurovision Song Contest

In 2006 Burlacu took part in the Moldovan preliminary decision. She also won this, but with two tied places. According to the rule, the youngest member of the jury should have decided, but he did not want to decide. A second preliminary round was held, but Burlacu no longer took part.

In 2008 she took part again in the Moldovan preliminary decision and won with the jazz title A Century of Love reached the final of the preliminary decision, in which Burlacu also won. In the first semifinals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 on May 20, 2008 Burlacu did not manage to place in the top ten entries and was eliminated.
