Finnbogi Ísakson

Finnbogi Ísakson (born February 7, 1943 in Klaksvík , Faroe Islands , † September 7, 2005 in Tórshavn ) was a Faroese journalist , writer and politician of the republican Tjóðveldisflokkurin .

Finnbogi was born in 1943 to Anna (née Wolles from Trøllanes ) and Jógvan Isaksen (from Leirvík ). On December 1, 1983, he married Ása Justinussen from Tórshavn for the second time. From his first marriage to Lita Godtfred he had sons Jón and Høgni.

As a trained journalist, he was editor of Útvarp Føroya from 1963 to 1974 , then until 1975 publisher and editor-in-chief of Tíðindablaðið , which was hired when he took over a ministerial office, freelancer from 1979 to 1984 , then program director of Sjónvarp Føroya until 1988 and from 1991 to 1993 Editor of September 14th, Tjóðveldisflokkurin's party newspaper.

Finnbogi Ísakson was elected to Løgting back in 1966 at the age of 23 . This made him the second youngest MP in the history of the Faroe Islands . He held this seat through multiple re-elections until 1984, when he no longer ran. From 1990 to 2002 he was again a member of the Løgtings MP. In the legislative period from 1998 to 2002 he was also President of Løgting. 1975–1979, 1989 and 1993–1994, Finnbogi Ísakson was Minister in the Provincial Government of the Faroe Islands .

In addition to his journalistic work, Ísakson wrote some books and also translated works from other languages ​​into Faroese, which have not yet been printed. His last major appearance as a presenter and author was reading his translation of the Norwegian novel Sverri Kongur about King Sverre , who grew up in the Faroe Islands in the 12th century. The program was broadcast in several parts on Faroese Radio in summer 2005.

Finnbogi Ísakson fell seriously ill in the summer of 2005 and died in September after a short illness at the age of 62.
