The Fischberg is a 295.4 m high mountain in the Witzelroda district of the municipality of Moorgrund in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .
The Fischberg is an agriculturally used mountain made of red sandstone and is located on the edge of the Werra Valley . The mountain marks a border point between Schweina , Witzelroda and Barchfeld . In the west, at the foot of the mountain, is the Michelsteich, a natural sinkhole . Medieval arable terraces can still be seen on the east and south sides of the Fischberg.
On the east side of the Fischberg the Fischgraben flows as a right tributary towards the Werra . The Meimers district of Bad Liebenstein is also located on the eastern slope of the mountain. The federal road 19 , which has been re-routed as a bypass for Barchfeld and some parts of the moorland , runs along the south-western slope of the mountain.
