Flösserweg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Flösserweg is a historic footpath and today a 21 km long marked hiking trail between Laufenburg and Stilli , two villages in the Swiss canton of Aargau .

history

In the 19th century, large quantities of wood were loosened in the Netherlands for shipbuilding and urban construction. The Fricktal were responsible for the route from Brugg to Laufenburg and returned overland to the starting point, along today's Flösserweg.

In the 1820s, rafting on the rivers Rhine and Aare reached its peak. A record was kept of the timber transports. At peak times, around 2500 transports were counted each year, but in 1905 there were only around 30 transports. Today's Flösserweg was the standard route used by the wooden rafts on foot when they returned from the river. It leads from Laufenburg via Rheinsulz , Etzgen , Mettau , Wil AG , Hottwil , Mandach and Villigen to Stilli an der Aare.

The Flösserweg leads between Etzgen and Hottwil past the villages of the Mettauertal community . The walking time is around 5 hours.
