Flavien Rami Al-Kabalan

Flavien Rami Al-Kabalan (born July 17, 1979 in Zaidal , Homs Governorate ) is a Syrian clergyman , appointed Syrian Catholic Bishop , Apostolic Visitator and Patriarchal Procurator of the Patriarchate of Antioch .

Life

Rami Al-Kabalan first studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the Seminary of Charfet . He continued his studies in Rome at the Pontifical Greek College and the Pontifical French Seminary . He graduated from the Pontifical Lateran University with a degree in theology. He received the sacrament of ordination in 2004 in Rome from the Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Eastern Churches , Ignatius Moussa Daoud, and in July 2005 in his place of birth from the Archbishop of Homs , Théophile Georges Kassab , the sacrament of ordination .

From 2007 to 2011 he was active in the pastoral care of the Archeparchy of Homs and then went back to Rome to study. Since 2013 he has been postulator in the beatification process for the martyr bishop Flavianus Michael Malke and assistant to the procurator at the Holy See. In 2015 he completed his studies in Eastern Church Law at the Pontifical Oriental Institute with a doctorate .

On June 21, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Visitator for the Syrian Catholic faithful in Western Europe. On March 27, 2020, the Syrian Catholic Patriarch Ignatius Joseph III appointed him . Younan as Patriarchal Procurator of the Patriarchate of Antiaoch. Pope Francis named him titular bishop of Arethusa dei Siri the following day . With his appointment as bishop he took the name Flavien or Flaviano .
