Théophile Georges Kassab

Théophile Georges Kassab (born June 5, 1945 in Zaidal , Syria , † October 22, 2013 in Lebanon) was the Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Homs .

Life

Théophile Georges Kassab received on 6 October 1974, the sacrament of the priesthood by Archbishop Joseph Jacob Abiad . He was active in the Syrian Catholic Archepark of Homs, among other things as vicar general .

On May 8, 1999, Pope John Paul II appointed him Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Nabk. The Syrian Catholic Patriarch of Antioch , Ignatius Moussa I. Daoud , donated him episcopal ordination on March 3, 2000 ; Co -consecrators were the Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Hassaké-Nisibi , Jacques Behnan Hindo , and the Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Aleppo, Denys Raboula Antoine Beylouni . He died as a war refugee in Lebanon.

In 2008 Théophile Georges Kassab was head of the committee that led the Syrian Catholic Patriarchate until the election of the new Syrian Catholic Patriarch in 2009 and was also the Apostolic Administrator “sede vacante” of the Patriarchal Eparchy.
