The Fleischhof Rasting (short: Rasting) is a food company based in North Rhine-Westphalia Meckenheim in Bonn and another operation in Essen . The company is one of the largest meat processing companies in North Rhine-Westphalia and is a subsidiary of the cooperative Edeka Rhein-Ruhr. The purpose of the company is to supply the meat and fish departments of the Edeka markets and Marktkauf in the Rhine-Ruhr sales area with a full range of fresh meat and sausage products as well as fish .
history
The original butcher shop Rasting was opened in Bad Godesberg in 1888 by the founder Balthasar Rasting. In the post-war period from 1946 onwards, the company established business contacts with the food retail trade .
The company was sold to Edeka in 1964 due to the lack of a successor by the Rasting family and has since continued as a wholly owned subsidiary and brand for meat and sausage products.
Milestones in the company's history are:
- 1950 first collaboration with Edeka Mittelrhein
- 1964 Foundation of Rasting GmbH & Co. KG
- 1968 Move into the new building at the slaughterhouse production facility in Bonn
- 1983–84 New building and relocation in the Kottenforst industrial park in Meckenheim, as the spatial capacities at the Bonn location were exhausted
- 1994 Expansion, dismantling and packaging at the Meckenheim location
- 1999 Merger with Edeka Ruhr-Emscher's Fleischhof Essen
- 2013 Start of fish marketing
- 2014 Expansion of fish marketing through the commissioning of a fish packing facility at the Essen location and expansion of the facility for a new box washing facility
Memberships and Certification
Fleischhof Rasting GmbH is a member of the Federal Association of the Meat Industry. In 1993, under the ISO 9001 standards, the company received the first certificate in the German meat industry with the quality management system “Rasting Quality Assurance System” (“RAQUASIS” for short). In 1998, Rasting was the first German company to receive unrestricted approval from the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE) for the system it developed for the simple tracing of beef (“RAQUASIS cattle system” ).
The company is certified according to the following certification standards:
- QS standard (QS test system for food)
- IFS (International Featured Standard Food)
- BIO (according to EU organic regulation )
- MSC + ASC (Marine + Aquaculture Stewardship Council, for sustainable fishing )
as well as in the field of energy management :
The company supports the animal welfare initiative .
Awards
On May 30, 1985, the company received the Federal Gold Award after having been awarded the Federal Award for the previous ten years.
In 1999 the company received the “Logistics Prize” from the Association of German Engineers for “paperless / paperless processing of the logistics chain from order to delivery to the customer”.
The reusable transport container for fish products, developed in cooperation with Georg Utz GmbH , was awarded the pro-K award in 2014.
Rasting also received the DLG award for long-term product quality - ham & sausage , which is awarded annually.
Customers
Rasting's customers are Edeka and Marktkauf retail stores , which are affiliated with Edeka Rhein-Ruhr. They are supplied with fresh meat and sausage products from their own production, as well as trade goods and fish products, 6 days a week .
