Fleur East (born October 29, 1987 in London ) is a British pop singer .
biography
Fleur East is from Walthamstow in North London and is the daughter of a British father and a Ghanaian mother. She first took part in the British talent show The X Factor in 2005 as part of the Addictiv Ladies . However, the group dropped out on the first live broadcast. She then concentrated on her studies and graduated from Queen Mary University with a degree in journalism and contemporary history. In 2012 she signed a record deal with the Strictly Rhythm label and released the solo EP She . She had her first success as a guest singer of the Drumsound & Bassline Smith project on One in a Million , which made it into the official British charts .
In 2014, Fleur East took part for the second time in the 11th season of X Factor, this time as a soloist. She attracted particular attention with her performance of Uptown Funk , with which Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars had a worldwide hit, but which had not yet been released in the UK at the time. Immediately after the broadcast, it was number 1 on the iTunes download charts, but the song was not listed in the official charts. In the end, she took second place in the competition behind Ben Haenow . It then took her almost a year to finish her debut album Love, Sax and Flashbacks . The single Sax was released beforehand and immediately entered the charts at number 3. The album reached number 14 in December.
