Geographical location

The wasteland lies in the north of the Altmühltal Nature Park, northeast of Thalmässing am Eichelbach , a right tributary of the Schwarzach .

Place name interpretation

Comb mills are a type of mill in which the water flows onto the vertical water wheel and the power is transmitted through a "comb wheel" to the vertical shaft of the millstone.

history

The originally Eichstättische mill was subordinate to the Palatinate-Neuburgic care office Hilpoltstein . In 1777 the mill with the Hilpoltstein office became part of the Electorate of Palatinate-Bavaria.

In the new Kingdom of Bavaria (1806) the Kammühle and the church village Lohen came to the tax district of Weinsfeld in 1808, and to the tax district of Offenbau in 1810 . With the municipal edict of 1818 Lohen became a separate rural community with the mill . Since 1803 in the Hilpoltstein regional court , the community Lohen and with it the Kammühle came to the Raitenbuch regional court and in 1812 to the Greding regional court .

In 1820/1823 the wasteland or hamlet consisted of one, in 1904 of two, and in 1950/1952 of three properties / houses.

For 1831 it is reported that the mill had two grinding courses. In 1875 the miller's family kept two horses and seven head of cattle in their farm.

In the course of the municipal reform , the municipality of Lohen with its district Kammühle - today a riding stables - was incorporated into Thalmässing in the district of Roth on January 1, 1972. In 2013 the dilapidated stone bridge over the Eichelbach to the Kammühle was replaced by a corrugated steel passage .
