Trek Airways Flitestar or Flitestar , IATA : GM , was an airline from South Africa from 1991 to 1994 , founded by Trek Airways .

history

Flitestar was founded in 1991 by Trek Airways as Trek Airways Flitestar , but was marketed as Flitestar and started operations on October 16, 1991 with four brand new Airbus A320-211s , which were later supplemented by two ATR 72-202s . It was thus one of the first airlines to enter into direct competition with South African Airways . It focused on the business traveler market, which contributed 25% of occupancy without neglecting the rest of the market. On South African domestic routes, the seat load factor was up to 63%. However, South African Airways fought the Flitestar with advertising campaigns and other means. From 1993 Flitestar reduced the number of their flights and was liquidated in April 1994 together with Trek Airways.
