1time was a South African low-cost airline based in Johannesburg and a subsidiary of Afrisource Holdings . The company name “one time!” Is a South African expression for “seriously”.
history
1time was founded at the end of 2003. After the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, the parent company saw the opportunity to buy cheap aircraft and to found the first low-cost airline in South Africa. Ticket sales began in January 2004 and flight operations began on February 25, 2004 with three daily flights between Johannesburg and Cape Town .
In February 2006 the subsidiary 1Time Zambia was founded. It was supposed to offer cheap flights from Lusaka , but the plans were never realized.
In 2006 over a million passengers were transported on eight routes.
1time employed 420 people in March 2007, transported around 100,000 passengers each month and had been listed on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange since August 14, 2007 .
On November 2, 2012, 1time ceased flight operations and the company is to be liquidated .
aims
From OR Tambo International Airport five national goals have been served, including Cape Town , Durban and Port Elizabeth . In addition, there were three international connections to Livingstone in Zambia , Maputo in Mozambique and outside the monsoon season (April to June) to the island of Zanzibar, which belongs to Tanzania . 1time was the only airline that directly connected Zanzibar Airport with Johannesburg.
