Career
Boitin grew up in the Upper Bavarian town of Geretsried . Early on he became known regionally with his friends through appearances as the cover band of the early Beatles . He later switched to classical rhythm and blues . A basis for his career as a communication designer was his visit to the Free Art School Hans Seeger in Munich until 1989 . In 1994 he completed his degree in designer at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences . In the same year Boitin began working as a designer at Heinrich Bauer Verlag , where he was initially jointly responsible for the magazine Quick , which was soon discontinued , but was also responsible for Playboy. In 1997 he was promoted to Art Director under the then editor-in-chief Peter Lewandowski , and from that moment on he was instrumental in the success of the German Playboy edition at the time.
In 2000 he moved to Axel Springer AG , where he was deputy editor-in-chief and creative director until 2005. From 2005 to 2008 he was editor-in-chief of the now discontinued men's magazine Maxim and worked as a freelance media consultant for a short time until he was appointed editor-in-chief of the German Playboy edition in June 2009. From issue 1/2020, Boitin will also appear alongside Myriam Karsch as the publisher of the German edition of Playboy, after Hubert Burda Media did not renew the license, which is why Karsch and Boitin are taking over the publishing house on their own.
After separating from his first wife, he kept the surname "Boitin" she had adopted.
