Florian Borkenhagen
Florian Borkenhagen (born October 27, 1959 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German artist , designer and professor of spatial concept and design .
Vita
During his six-year studies from 1980 to 1986 at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg, he worked last year at Gebhardt Filmproduktion in the film equipment and stage design department. After temporarily working in Rome with film equipment, stage design and furniture design, he ran a studio in Paris for furniture and objects from 1988. With this project he came to Hamburg in 1989. From 1990 to 1995 Borkenhagen worked in a workshop in Como in Italy and founded the Laboratorio Como , a workshop for industrial archeology and interdisciplinary research, furniture, rooms. From 1996 to 1998 he had a workshop in Munich and in the meantime gave workshops in Dakar, Abidjan and Cairo. Since 1999 he has been running the sculpture project travel a head in Hamburg and since 2005 he has been professor for spatial concept and design at the Academy for Mode & Design in Hamburg .

Borkenhagen's work is deliberately at the interface between art and design . His sculptures often invite interaction, while his designs in furniture and interior design often have a sculptural character.
Since 1982 Borkenhagen exhibited in numerous galleries and museums in Europe and the USA . a. at the documenta 8 in Kassel . In the nineties he founded the interdisciplinary Laboratorio Como , where he a. a. developed the design and sculpture concept of industrial archeology . In 1997 he was co-initiator of First Aid for Bad Art - a first aid project for "bad art". Most recently, his sculpture project travel a head caused a sensation. A four-meter-high head sculpture traveled around the world on container ships between 1998 and 2000.
Borkenhagen works together with artists, designers, architects, philosophers, film and theater makers and industrial companies. He leads workshops in Europe and Africa and participates in seminars.
