Life

Florian Herrnleben was born as the eldest son of the puppeteer couple Wolfgang and Elisabeth Herrnleben in Bamberg . His great-grandfather Hans Herrnleben founded the Herrnleben puppet theater in 1945 , and was a well-known humorist and popular actor in Bamberg. At the age of five, Florian Herrnleben appeared on stage for the first time, and at the age of six he took on his first role on the puppet stage. Internationally, he already worked as a puppeteer for the Italian plush toy manufacturer Trudi at the toy fair.

After his father Wolfgang Herrnleben suddenly fell ill, in 2006 he initially took on the role of Bamberg Punch and Judy and the organizational management of the puppet theater. With the death of his mother in 2011, he became the sole owner and artistic director of the family business.

Productions / Punch and Judy stories

Since taking over the puppet stage, Florian Herrnleben has mainly concentrated on re-enactments from the puppeteer's family's extensive archive, which includes well over 800 of his own pieces, adapted fairy tales and adventures. However, he also wrote new puppet adventures, for example the play “Sandkirchweih für Zwerge”, which also represents his author's debut for the famous Bamberg Sandkerwa , which traditionally opens with a big puppet adventure by the Herrenleben family.
