Florian Siekmann (born February 1, 1995 in Koblenz ) is a German politician of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party and has been a member of the Bavarian state parliament since November 5, 2018 .

Life

In 2014 Siekmann graduated from the Kurfürst-Balduin-Gymnasium in Münstermaifeld and began studying chemistry and biochemistry at the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) in Munich in the same year . During his studies, he did research stays at the Swedish University of Umeå (2014) and at the US Michigan State University (2016). Siekmann completed his studies in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Outside the university, Siekmann was deputy chairman of the Förderverein Chemie-Olympiade eV from 2014 to 2018 and a member of the board of trustees of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) from 2018 to 2019 . He has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Max Planck Institute for Physics since 2019 .

politics

During his bachelor's degree, Siekmann was involved in the student council and was elected to the Senate and University Council of the LMU in 2016. Since 2015 he has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and the Green Youth . Siekmann ran for the Bavarian state election in 2018 and ran for constituency 101, Munich-Hadern. Here he was on list position 16 in Upper Bavaria. Together with Eva Lettenbauer he formed the top duo of the Bavarian Green Youth . Both achieved entry into the state parliament by means of the second vote. This makes Siekmann the youngest member in the history of the Bavarian State Parliament . In addition to district 101, Munich-Hadern , he is responsible for district 114, Ebersberg . As the European spokesman for his parliamentary group, Siekmann is a member of the Committee for Federal and European Affairs in the Bavarian State Parliament . Within European politics, he dedicates himself to issues that are important from a state-political point of view. These include cross-border cooperation with the neighboring countries of Switzerland , Austria and the Czech Republic, as well as international school and youth exchanges. Siekmann is also a member of the Committee for Federal and European Affairs in the Bavarian State Parliament.

Siekmann has been a deputy member of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) since January 26, 2020 .
