Flot Rouge
Flot Rouge is a red wine variety . It is a new breed that was developed by the French breeder Albert Seibel by crossing the hybrid vine Jaeger 70 bred by Hermann Jaeger with the Aramon grape variety . It is therefore directly related to the Aramon du Gard variety . Due to the influence of the parents, the hybrid grape Flot Rouge has the genes of the wild grapes Vitis vinifera , Vitis rupestris and Vitis lincecumii . The variety belongs to the Seibel family. Before 1958 it was grown on almost 3522 hectares in France. However, due to the EU-wide ban on hybrid vines for the commercial expansion of wine , it almost completely disappeared.
The early ripening and high-yielding variety has good resistance to the vine diseases powdery mildew and downy mildew . It produces deep red red wines which, due to the lack of acidity , lack structure and therefore appear flat.
See the article Viticulture in France, as well as the list of grape varieties .
