The Achmad Yani International Airport ( Indonesian Bandara Internasional Achmad Yani , IATA : SRG , ICAO : WARS ) is the airport of Semarang , the capital of the province of Central Java . The former military airfield Kalibanteng was opened for civil aviation in 1966. The steady increase in civil air traffic caused the airport to be classified under the PT. Angkasa Pura I with the new name Achmad Yani Airport .

The provincial government announced the airport expansion in 2004. To the north of the old terminal, a new one with an area of ​​27,500 m² will be built with an apron of 61,344 m² to accommodate two medium-sized and ten small aircraft.

  • On May 1, 1981, a Vickers Viscount with the flight number PK-RVN of the airline Mandala Airlines overran the runway and broke the starboard and nose landing gear. The accident went smoothly and resulted in no deaths.
