The Flurlingertunnel , also called Cholfirsttunnel , is a tunnel in the canton of Zurich in the municipality of Flurlingen . It belongs to the A4 motorway and is part of the Schaffhausen bypass . There is a mandatory vignette .

location

The tunnel crosses under the northwest slope of the Cholfirst . The south portal is located on the south-eastern outskirts of Flurlingen at around 450  m above sea level. M. , the north portal directly on the south bank of the Rhine  north of Flurlingen at around 400  m above sea level. M. North of the tunnel leads the road on the Rhine bridge N4 to which the Fäsenstaub-Tannerberg tunnel (1,460 meters) below.

Construction

The single-tube tunnel is 1250 meters long and had an additional exit tunnel that is 140 meters long and serves as the “Schaffhausen Süd” exit. There are three lanes leading through the tunnel: one lane four meters wide in the direction of Schaffhausen and two lanes three and a half meters wide in the direction of Winterthur . The two lanes in the direction of Winterthur are necessary for a crawl , as there is an incline of 5% from the junction to the south portal. There is also a shoulder of one meter on both sides. The main tunnel has a total width of eleven meters. The exit tunnel has a lane of 4.2 meters with a shoulder lane of 2.3 meters and two shoulders of one meter. At the junction, the tunnel is 27 meters wide and was designed as a trumpet.

The tunnel was excavated in four sections: a pilot gallery , a dome , a bench and the final excavation. In the branch, the dome was raised in two steps. The calottes had an abutment made of micropiles . In the Plattenkalk , a horseshoe profile was chosen, while in the marl a base vault was necessary due to the strong swelling behavior . The vault was first secured with shotcrete and then covered with a PVC layer to keep the mountain water away from the tunnel (so-called umbrella concept ). Finally, an in-situ concrete vault was created in sections of five meters. The ventilation concept provides for longitudinal ventilation .

The tunnel no longer complied with current safety standards, so the ventilation and sensors in the tunnel driving area were replaced in summer 2015.
