Folke Braband

Folke Braband (* before 1991 in Berlin ) is a German theater director and author.

Life

Folke Braband was born in Berlin and studied theater and literature there. From 1991 to 1995 he headed the studio theater magazine in the Theater am Kurfürstendamm and was then artistic director of the Berliner Komödie .

Folke Braband has staged in Berlin, Vienna , Munich , Hamburg , Frankfurt, Düsseldorf , Stuttgart and Cologne . His repertoire spans the entire spectrum from boulevards and operettas to socially critical social drama, from children's and youth plays to classical music. He worked u. a. with Jürgen Prochnow , Brigitte Mira , Oliver Mommsen , Markus Majowski , Katharine Mehrling, Robert Stadlober , Wolfgang Spier , Andreas Schmidt, Tanja Wedhorn , Judy Winter or Volker Lechtenbrink . In addition to his work as a director, Braband also works as a writer and translator. His comedy Spätlese , u. a. with Judy Winter, was premiered in October 2011 with great success in the Theater am Kurfürstendamm. In November 2014 he staged his new comedy Mittendrin at the Winterhuder Fährhaus in Hamburg .

Awards

For Ladies Night he received the 2001 Theatergemeinde Berlin award for the most popular play of the season. The productions Barbaren, Die Schaukel and Lost in Yonkers were nominated for the Friedrich-Luft-Preis , Klassenfeind 2.0 for the Ikarus-Preis. In 2013 he received the Monica Bleibtreu Prize in the comedy category for One Summer Night .
