The Folla ("the width") is the third largest tributary of the Glomma . It flows through the Norwegian province of Innlandet .
The Folla has its origin at about 950 m altitude south of the Dovrefjell . From there it flows in a north-easterly direction through the Fokstumyra nature reserve, through the lakes Vålåsjøen and Avsjøen to Hjerkinn in the municipality of Dovre . Here it turns to the east and flows through the valley Folldalen, through the municipalities of Folldal and Alvdal , and finally flows into the Glomma from the right near the village of Alvdal . Tributaries of the Folla are Gautåi , Kvita , Depla , Grimsa , Kakella , Einunna and Sølna .
environmental pollution
The folla is heavily contaminated with heavy metals (especially copper, zinc and cadmium) from disused copper mines. On the 10 km long section from the center of Folldal to the confluence of the Grimsa , the concentration of heavy metals is so great that fish cannot survive there in the long term.
