Foluke Antinuke Akinradewo (born October 5, 1987 in London , Ontario , Canada ) is an American volleyball player . She won the Olympic silver medal in 2012, the World Championship in 2014 and the Olympic bronze medal in 2016

Career

Akinradewo attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale from 2001 to 2005 and began volleyball there. In 2004 she won the continental NORCECA Championship with the US Juniors and a year later she took part in the Junior World Championship. Then the middle blocker, who in addition to the US American also has Canadian and Nigerian citizenship, made her debut in the senior team . In 2005 she also began her studies at Stanford University . In the following years Akinradewo received various awards in the university team. At the Pan American Games in 2007 she won bronze with the USA. The following year she finished her studies. In 2010, the Americans won the Grand Prix with Akinradewo and finished fourth at the World Championships . In October of the same year, the middle blocker went to TAB Queenseis in Japan . In 2011 the USA successfully defended the title at the Grand Prix and also took second place in the World Cup . Akinradewo played in the 2011/12 season for the Russian first division club VK Dynamo Krasnodar . In 2012 she won the silver medal with the USA at the Olympic Games in London . After the tournament she moved to Azerbaijan to Rabita Baku .

Private

Foluke Akinradewo has been married to Jonathan Gunderson since 2018. The two have had a son since 2019.
