The Force de Défense Haïtienne are the armed forces of Haiti . They were set up again in 2011 and have been in service since 2017.
history
The army, originally established in the 19th century, was abolished in 1916 after a US invasion. The Gendarmerie d'Haïti became the Garde d'Haïti in 1928 . This was again renamed in 1958 under Duvalier in Forces Armées d'Haïti (FAd'H) . In 1996, President Jean-Bertrand Aristide abolished the military by decree , and the National Police ( Police Nationale d'Haïti ) PNH also took on defense functions. In 2011, President Michel Martelly announced the creation of the Haïtienne Force de Défense . She has been active since 2017.
