Forestville is a city ( ville ) in the MRC La Haute-Côte-Nord in the Canadian province of Québec .
It is located on the north bank of the estuary of the Saint Lawrence River , about 320 km northwest of the provincial capital city of Québec . The Rivière du Sault aux Cochons flows into the Saint Lawrence River here.
The ferry crossing over the St. Lawrence River takes about two hours. Forestville has about 3600 inhabitants (as of 2006) in two districts.
history
The area around Forestville was discovered by the French navigator Jacques Cartier in the mid-16th century . In 1937 the place was named in honor of Grant William Forrest . Forestville has had city status since 1944.

Forestville is surrounded by a lot of pristine nature in Canadian state property, in which animals such as black bear , elk , wolf , bald eagle, Canada goose , lynx , caribou , elk , whales and various game fish live in the wild. Fishing , outdoor activities, snowshoeing hiking and skiing are all available to tourists . The snow depth is up to 2 meters in winter.
