Formignana is a fraction of the Italian commune ( comune ) Tresignana in the province of Ferrara , Emilia-Romagna region .
geography
The place is about 19 kilometers east of Ferrara in the Po plain on the orographic left side of the Po di Volano, a tributary of the Po .
history
Formignana was first mentioned in 870 in a document from Pope Hadrian II . Until 1908 Formignana was part of the neighboring municipality of Copparo . In 1961 the district of Tresigallo was raised to an independent municipality.
On January 1, 2019, Formignana merged with the neighboring municipality of Tresigallo to form the new municipality of Tresignana. The Brazzolo district also belonged to the former municipality.
