Forrest Griffin
Forrest Griffin (born July 1, 1979 in Columbus , Ohio ) is a retired American mixed martial arts fighter . He played 26 fights, of which he won 19 and lost seven.
Griffin graduated from high school in Evans, a suburb of Augusta , Georgia . He then attended the University of Georgia and earned a degree in political science. During this time he worked intermittently as a police officer for the Richmond County Sheriff's Office . He gave up this job to pursue a full career as a professional martial artist.
Griffin fought for various organizers before participating in the first season of The Ultimate Fighter in 2005, where he won the light-heavyweight final against Stephan Bonnar . Since then he has played all of his fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship . For the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter he was hired as a coach. On July 5, 2008, after defeating Quinton Jackson, he became UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, but lost this title to Rashad Evans in December 2008. In 2012 he played the last fight of his career and won against Tito Ortiz on points. Griffin trained at Xtreme Couture Mixed Martial Arts .
