history

Forsthub mit der Gleisenau is closely linked to the history of the Lichtenfels forest . It was first mentioned in the 9th century when “custos nemoris cum una huba” belonged to the Frankish imperial estate in Zeickhorn. The next mention followed in 1334 as "Forsthube".

The hamlet of Forsthub was created in the Middle Ages . The name means something like a hat for the forester.

In 1818, Forsthub and Gleisenau were incorporated into Buch am Forst, five kilometers away, in the Lichtenfels district office. In 1878 the hamlet had 35 residents and 13 buildings.

On January 1, 1978, the village of Forsthub and the Einöd Gleisenau were incorporated into Grub am Forst in the Coburg district.

In 1987, Forsthub had 17 residents and 11 residential buildings. In the last few years the small town has grown from 15 to 21 residential buildings. There is a playground with a football field in the center of the village.
