history

The first mention took place between 1739 and 1746 in the Bamberg stand book as "Gleißenau". The feudal lordship belonged to the Lichtenfels caste office . In 1801 the place, which belonged to the district of the Catholic parish in Lichtenfels, consisted of a princely Bamberg hunting lodge. At that time the forester's house was built as a two-storey hipped roof building.

According to the municipal edict of 1818, Gleisenau was merged with Buch am Forst , Forsthub, Seehof and Hammer to form the municipality of Buch am Forst. In 1862, the rural community was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Lichtenfels .

In 1871 Gleisenau had eight residents and three buildings. The responsible Catholic parish and school were in Lichtenfels, ten 6.5 kilometers away. In 1900 the rural community of Buch am Forst with its five towns covered an area of 1,372.45 hectares, 596 inhabitants, 587 of whom were Protestant, and 106 residential buildings. In Gleisenau, which was now assigned to the Protestant parish and school in Buch, five kilometers away, nine people lived in a residential building. In 1925 the wasteland had five residents and one residential building and in 1950 six residents. In 1970 and 1987 the wasteland had five residents and a residential building with one apartment.

On May 1, 1978, it was incorporated into the community of Grub am Forst in the Coburg district.
