The A 73 runs about one kilometer east, the LIF 27 district road, formerly part of the B 289 , runs through the village.

history

Buch am Forst was first mentioned in the 9th century as an entry in the Banzer Reichsurbar : In “Buchen” three manses ( farmsteads ) were owned by freeborns. The next mention was in 1215 with Albert "de Buoch". The place was created as a clearing in the Lichtenfelser forest .

Until the end of the Old Kingdom , the southern district with the castle belonged to the Bamberg bishopric ; the northern one with the school and the church was on Saxon territory. In a state treaty of 1811 negotiated between Bavaria's Prime Minister Maximilian von Montgelas and Prince Leopold von Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld , Buch am Forst was finally awarded to Bavaria.

In 1819 Buch am Forst was formed into a rural community with Hammer , Seehof , Forsthub and Gleisenau . In 1818, 325 people lived in Buch am Forst. In 1875 the community had 560 inhabitants, including 538 Protestants, and 90 residential buildings. In 1950 the population was 802, in 1961 777 and in 1970 702. On January 1, 1978, it was incorporated into the town of Lichtenfels, which the citizens preferred at a citizens' meeting over incorporation into the Untersiemau community in the Coburg district . The district of Forsthub with Gleisenau became part of the municipality of Grub am Forst in the district of Coburg as a result of the regional reform .
