Tiefenroth is a district of the Upper Franconian district town of Lichtenfels .

geography

The village is located about eight kilometers northwest of the Lichtenfels core city, about two kilometers south of Birkach am Forst . Tiefenroth is on the B 289 , which connects the neighboring community of Untersiemau with the A 73 .

history

Tiefenroth was first mentioned in the 9th century as an entry in the so-called Banzer Reichsurbar: In "Rode", the Fulda church owned the territorial rule and ten Mansi . The next mention was in 1381, when Konrad von Redwitz sold the bailiwick to the Banz monastery via "Rode".

Tiefenroth belonged to the Banz monastery until the end of the Old Kingdom . With the community edict, the place with 96 inhabitants at the time, together with Stetten and the neighboring Gnellenroth , formed the community of Stetten in the Lichtenfels district court from 1818 .

In 1875 Tiefenroth had 130 residents and 66 buildings. The Catholic church and school were in Altenbanz, 3 kilometers away . The nearest Protestant church was in Buch am Forst .

In 1950 Tiefenroth had 143 residents and 20 residential buildings. On January 1, 1975, Tiefenroth was incorporated into the city of Lichtenfels.
