In 1950 Oberlangheim had an area of 311.34 hectares , 267 inhabitants and 46 residential buildings. On January 1, 1978 Oberlangheim was incorporated into the city of Lichtenfels.

The landfill of the Lichtenfels and Kronach districts, which was closed in 2005, is located at the Schwedenschanze in a former quarry southeast of Oberlangheim. Almost two million cubic meters of industrial and household waste were disposed of there for 33 years.
