Hammer is a district of the Upper Franconian town of Lichtenfels in the Lichtenfels district .

geography

The hamlet is located about four kilometers northeast of Lichtenfels in the Lichtenfels Forest . The Schneybach, a right tributary of the Main, flows through the village . A community road leads to Schney and the Werra Railway is located south of the village.

history

The first mention was between 1491 and 1501 as an entry in the interest book of the Bamberg forest and caste office Lichtenfels as "vff der Forst Mul". In 1600 the mill at the "Forstmühll" and in 1653, located at the Zeisensee, was called "Zeisenhammer". In 1755 the name of the place Hammer was mentioned for the first time. In 1799, Hammer was described as a single princely hunter's house near a large pond in the Bamberg monastery near Lichtenfels. From the end of the 18th century , a mass mill of the Schney porcelain factory existed at Schneybach for about 100 years . According to the municipal edict of 1818, Hammer was merged into one municipality with Buch am Forst , Forsthub , Gleisenau and Seehof . At that time the place had five residents.

In January 1859, the single-track railway line from Coburg to Lichtenfels, which passed Hammer, was opened. In 1862 the hamlet was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Lichtenfels .

In 1871 Hammer had 7 residents, all of whom were Protestants, and 4 buildings. The Protestant parish was 5.0 kilometers away in Buch am Forst and the Protestant school 2.0 kilometers away in Schney. In 1900 the rural community of Buch am Forst with its five towns covered an area of ​​1,372.45 hectares, 596 inhabitants, 587 of whom were Protestant, and 106 residential buildings. In Hammer, which was now parish in Schney, 12 people lived in 2 residential buildings. In 1925 the hamlet had 15 residents and 2 residential buildings and belonged to the district of the Catholic parish in Lichtenfels. In 1950 Hammer had 13 residents and 2 residential buildings. In 1970 the place had 14 inhabitants and in 1987 12 inhabitants and 4 residential buildings with 6 apartments.

In 1967 it was assigned as part of the municipality to Schney, which was incorporated into the city of Lichtenfels on May 1, 1978.
