Krappenroth is a district of the Upper Franconian town of Lichtenfels in the Lichtenfels district .

geography

The village is located about four kilometers northeast of Lichtenfels about 70 meters above the Main Valley on a plateau at the foot of the Krappenberg.

history

The place name probably goes back to the Krappenberg located southwest of Krappenroth.

The first mention was made around 1087 with the debts of the old Oblei from "Crapindorf" to the Bamberg Cathedral Brothers . The naming is questionable. The ownership structure of the Bamberg cathedral chapter indicates the correspondence with the place Krappenroth, but then the basic word -dorf / -roth must have been changed. The next mention was in 1270, when the Bamberg cathedral chapter of Kunemund von Sonneberg exchanged goods for "Craphenrode" with the Langheim monastery .

Krappenroth belonged to the original parish of Staffelstein and was re- parish in 1665 to Lichtenfels. Before the Thirty Years' War the village had 7 households, in 1755 there were 16. In 1811 57 people in 10 families lived in the village. In 1801 Krappenroth was in the territory of the Bamberg bishopric , whose office in Lichtenfels included the high cent and taxes. The monastery of Langheim owned the village, community, fiefdom and bailiwick lordship along with tithes . There was a parish hall and seven barned houses. In 1833 five Protestants lived in the village.

With the community edict, Krappenroth formed from 1818 together with the 3.5 kilometers distant Unterwallenstadt and Oberwallenstadt the rural community Oberwallenstadt in the district court of Lichtenfels .

In 1862, the village was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office of Lichtenfels . In 1871 Krappenroth had 105 residents and 41 buildings. The Catholic Church was 4.0 kilometers away in Lichtenfels and the Catholic school 1.5 kilometers away in Trieb . The Protestant parish and school were 1.5 kilometers away in Michelau. In 1900, the rural community of Oberwallenstadt comprised an area of 409.24 hectares, 564 inhabitants, 541 of whom were Catholic, and 105 residential buildings. 68 people lived in 14 residential buildings in Krappenroth. In 1925 the village had 87 inhabitants and 16 residential buildings, in 1950 103 inhabitants and 19 residential buildings. In the 1950s, Krappenroth was re-pared to the Trieb Curate . In 1970 the place had 90 inhabitants and in 1987 68 inhabitants and 21 residential buildings with 23 apartments.

On April 1, 1959, Krappenroth was incorporated into the city of Lichtenfels.
