The 2017/18 season of the English Premiership is the 31st major division of the English Rugby Union Championship. For sponsorship reasons it bears the name Aviva Premiership . It begins on September 1, 2017, comprises 22 match days (each a preliminary and second round) and lasts until May 5, 2018. The four best-placed teams then qualify for the semi-finals, the semi-final winners meet on May 26, 2018 in the final in Twickenham Stadium on top of each other. The defending champions are the Exeter Chiefs .
