English rugby union championship 2001/02
The 2001/02 season of the English Premiership was the 15th season of the major division of the English Rugby Union Championship. For sponsorship reasons it was named Zurich Premiership . It began on September 3, 2001, comprised 22 game days (each a preliminary and second round) and lasted until May 12, 2001. The best-placed of the regular season, the Leicester Tigers , won the championship for the sixth time. Subsequently, the eight best teams played the Zurich Championship knockout tournament until June 8, 2002 , but this was no longer used to determine the championship title. There was no relegation this season.
