from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1987/1988 season of the English Premiership was the first major league season of the English Rugby Union Championship. For sponsorship reasons it was named Courage League . As in the times before the league was founded, there was no fixed schedule and the clubs set the game dates among themselves. Most teams played eleven games, but some only ten. The first English championship title won the Leicester Tigers , while the Coventry RFC and the Sale Sharks had to relegate.
