English Rugby Union Championship 2000/01
The 2000-01 season of the English Premier League was the 14th season of top flight of English rugby union championship. For sponsorship reasons it was named Zurich Premiership . It began on August 19, 2000, comprised 22 game days (each a preliminary and second round) and lasted until April 14, 2001. The top-ranked of the regular season, the Leicester Tigers , won the championship for the fifth time. Subsequently, the eight best teams played the knockout tournament Zurich Championship until May 13, 2001 , but this was no longer used to determine the championship title. The Rotherham RUFC was relegated at the end of the season.

The season of the second division ( National Division One ) consisted of 26 game days (one first and one second round). The best placed team Rotherham RUFC was not allowed to move up because the stadium did not meet the requirements. The Orrell RUFC and the Waterloo RFC had to dismount .
