Stöcken is a district of the Upper Franconian town of Lichtenfels in the Lichtenfels district .

geography

The core of the single yard settlement consists of five farmsteads. It is located on a slope about four kilometers northeast of Lichtenfels on the eastern edge of the Lichtenfels Forest . The Schneybach, a right tributary of the Main, flows on the outskirts . Two communal roads lead to Schney .

history

In 1543, the rear seat of Wilhelm von Schaumberg got Rodeland north of Schney. In 1804 there was a card entry for the "Stoekenhoefe" and in 1813 four properties were reported. The place name goes back to a derivation of the word tree stump. In 1820 Stöken belonged to the Schney- Unterleiterbach patrimonial court of the Count of Brockdorff . After the parish edict of 1818, the hamlet was merged with Schney to form one parish. In 1862, the hamlet was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian Lichtenfels district office .

In 1871, Stöcken had 24 residents and 14 buildings. The Protestant parish and school were in Schney, 1.5 kilometers away. In 1900 the rural community of Schney with its two towns covered an area of ​​604 hectares, 1730 inhabitants, 1580 of whom were Protestant, and 200 residential buildings. 22 people lived in floors in 5 residential buildings. In 1925 the hamlet had 23 residents and 4 residential buildings. The Catholic parish and school were in Lichtenfels, 3.0 kilometers away. In 1950, Stöcken had 26 residents and 5 residential buildings. In 1970 the place had 31 inhabitants and in 1987 30 inhabitants and 6 residential buildings with 9 apartments.

On May 1, 1978, Schney was incorporated into the town of Lichtenfels with the municipality of Stöcken.
