Unterleiterbach Castle

Unterleiterbach is part of the municipality of the Zapfendorf market , located in the northern part of the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg in northern Bavaria . The village has about 600 inhabitants.

geography

The Main flows about 0.5 kilometers west of Unterleiterbach and the Bamberg – Hof railway line runs immediately west of the town . At the Nuremberg-Erfurt high-speed railway has been operating the station Unterleiterbach built. Neighboring places are in the north Ebensfeld , in the northeast Kutzenberg (municipality Ebensfeld), in the east Oberleiterbach (municipality Zapfendorf ), in the south Zapfendorf and in the northwest Unterbrunn (municipality Ebensfeld).

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 796. At that time goods were given to the Fulda monastery . A church already existed in 1346. In 1501 the Valentin chapel was added. Between 1738 and 1740 a new chapel was built according to plans by Johann Jakob Michael Küchel .

Unterleiterbach was incorporated into Zapfendorf on January 1, 1978.

religion

The population is predominantly Roman Catholic. Until 2006 Unterleiterbach belonged to the parish Ebensfeld. With the establishment of the new pastoral care districts, the believers of the Unterleiterbach branch decided to re-parish to the Zapfendorf parish, as they also belong politically to the Zapfendorf community.
