Buch am Forst Castle

Schloss Buch is an early modern mansion from 1724 in the Lichtenfels district of Buch am Forst . As a protected architectural monument , the castle is managed by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation under monument number D-4-78-139-135 . Due to archaeological findings in the area of the castle, which are related to the medieval core of the building, the complex as a whole is also a ground monument with the number D-4-5832-0202 .

history

Buch Castle is located in a park in the southern part of the village of Buch am Forst. Originally a late medieval mansion stood here, which was destroyed in the Peasants' War and rebuilt in 1528. After the death of Heinz von Kunstadt, the medieval residence fell back to the feudal lord, the Banz monastery . Since there were initially no fiefs, the property was used as a monastery manor. In 1722–1724 the residence was completely rebuilt and received its current castle-like appearance. Only the cellars and the southern part of the original building remained. From 1803 to 1820 the castle was used as a residence by Gallus Dennerlein, the last Banzer abbot. After his death Christian Freiherr von Stockmar acquired the building. Today's owner is Christian Freiherr von Stockmar von Wangenheim .

description

The architecture of the building is kept relatively modest. The building is by the corner pilaster strip broken, the doors and windows (in the axle assembly nine to five) have simple frame shapes. The hipped roof and the park are from the 19th century. The interiors have stucco ceilings in the Regency style . They are most splendidly designed in the abbot's room. An outbuilding belonging to the property is located southeast of the main house.
