Trebitzmühle Tower Hill (Bavaria)
Trebitzmühle tower hill

The tower hill Trebitzmühle is the remainder of an abandoned hilltop castle of the type of a tower hill castle (moth) above the Trebitzmühle at the east end of the Kreibitzenberg , on the boundary of the village Wolfsloch , a district of Hochstadt am Main in the Upper Franconian district of Lichtenfels in Bavaria .

Little information is known about this castle, it is roughly dated as high medieval . The tower hill was only recognized as such in 1994 and is still well preserved. The Kleinburg was located near a section of a medieval old street that ran between Hochstadt am Main and Altenkunstadt and ran between the tower hill castle and the Main. The site is protected as a ground monument number D-4-5833-0052: high medieval tower hill .

description

The castle site is around 325  m above sea level. NN altitude on the southeast edge of the Kreibitzenberg, which drops steeply about 30  meters to the valley of a small tributary of the Main . The 16 meter diameter and 1.3 meter high tower hill was heaped up directly on the slope of the mountain. A moat served as additional protection , which in the past probably surrounded the entire hill, but is only preserved in the mountainside due to later backfilling.
