Forstwald is one of the seven districts of the municipality of Neuschönau in the Bavarian Forest with around 100 inhabitants.

location

To the east, the hamlet is bounded by the main town of the municipality. To the north, the Bavarian Forest National Park borders on forest forest and to the west is the Kleine Ohe hamlet and community boundary. In the south, the place goes into the Bärwiese, a part of Schönanger .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1618 with an iron ore processing company. This settled on a clearing of the neighboring monastery Sankt Oswald . In 1810 a wood processing company set up shop here with the Schönanger Mühle. The field name of the northern district of Schönauer Mühle comes from this . The operation of a hammer smithy and charcoal burner , which dates back to the glassworks , continued into the 1980s . The Chapel of the Sorrowful Mother of God in the district was built by the majority of the Roman Catholic population in 1992 as an extension of the village home built in 1978.
