François-Cyrille “Bouli” Grange (born March 11, 1983 in Valloire , Savoie ) is a former French ski racer and current ski instructor and trainer. He comes from a large family of ski racers; his mother Annick Levrel and his father Jean-Pierre Grange once belonged to the French national ski team; his younger brother is the successful slalom skier Jean-Baptiste Grange . A sister born in 1988 has also been active in skiing since she was a child.

In 1992 he, then eight-year-old young skier and a fan of Olympique Marseille , was together with Michel Platini the final runner in the Olympic torch relay of the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville .

life and career

François-Cyrille Grange was born in 1983 as the first son of Annick Levrel and Jean-Pierre Grange , who were part of the French national ski team in the 1970s, in the winter sports resort of Valloire , where he grew up and still lives today (as of December 2013). Like his brother, who was born a year later, he began his career as a ski racer at a very young age. It was primarily thanks to Jean-Claude Killy , the successful French ski racer of the 1960s, that Grange became a torch-bearer at the 1992 Olympic Games. Together with the then mayor of Valloire, Cyrille Rol, a great-uncle François-Cyrille Granges, the then eight-year-old appeared as the final runner at the torch relay. This, however, was until recently a well kept secret, not even the mother Annick that her son until from the Olympic Stadium Théâtre des Cérémonies brought, knew anything. He walked into the stadium on the hand of the "Maestro of French football", Michel Platini .

However, he was soon unable to continue the success of his one year younger brother as a skier. In the adult sector he later only had two official FIS races in 2000. His first appearance was the giant slalom on January 8, 2000 in his hometown, where he finished 21st with a time of 2: 04.45; his brother finished third in the race with a time of 1: 56.02 (+ 01.84). A day later, François-Cyrille Grange took part in the slalom in Valloire, which he finally finished only in 40th place, 13.61 seconds behind the winner Christophe Gilbert . His younger brother finished sixth in that race. After that, Grange did not take part in any other official FIS races and concentrated more on his career as a ski instructor and trainer. Among other things, he was active at the ESF Valloire ski school from January 2001 to April 2010 , where he established himself primarily as a youth trainer. He later moved to the Ski Club de Valloire , where he is still active today (as of December 2013).
