François-Xavier Gillot

François-Xavier Gillot (born September 12, 1842 in Autun , Burgundy , † October 18, 1910 ibid) was a French botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Gillot ".

Live and act

Gillot was originally a doctor. His main focus, however, was on botany and collecting plants. He was President of the Société d'histoire naturelle and Vice-President of the Société Éduenne in Autun . For the Muséum d'histoire naturelle d'Autun he herbarized over 20,000 specimens of plants from France , Tyrol , Spain , Tunisia , Algeria , Italy , Switzerland , Norway and Lapland . He described several French plant taxa from the rose family .
