Francesco Beschi (born August 6, 1951 in Brescia ) is Bishop of Bergamo .

Life

Francesco Beschi was ordained a priest on June 7, 1975 . From 1981 to 1987 he was pastor at the Cathedral of Brescia. In 1989 he became head of the Paolo VI Institute and, in 1999, episcopal vicar for lay pastoral care in the diocese of Brescia . In 2001 he was promoted to his general provisional.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Auxiliary Bishop in Brescia and Titular Bishop of Vinda on March 25, 2003 . The Bishop of Brescia , Giulio Sanguineti , donated him episcopal ordination on May 18 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were Bruno Foresti , retired Archbishop ad personam of Brescia, and Vigilio Mario Olmi , Emeritus Auxiliary Bishop of Brescia. As a motto he chose Secundum verbum tuum . On January 22, 2009 he was by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Bergamo and introduced to office on March 15 of the same year. Beschi is President of the Commission for Mission and Cooperation of the Churches in the Italian Bishops' Conference .
