Francesco Ricci Paracciani

Francesco Ricci Paracciani (born June 8, 1830 in Rome , † March 9, 1894 ibid) was an Italian cardinal and archpriest of St. Peter's Basilica .

Church career

On December 13, 1880 he was by Pope Leo XIII. elevated to cardinal in pectore , which was not announced until March 27, 1882. Shortly afterwards, Paracciani became cardinal deacon of Santa Maria in Campitelli . In 1891 he was given the title church of San Pancrazio , now admitted to the class of cardinal priests , before the Pope gave him the office of archpriest of the Basilica of Saint Peter in 1892 .

He was Honorary and Devotion Grand Cross Bailli of the Sovereign Order of Malta and from 1885 to 1891 Grand Prior of the Grand Priory of Rome of the Order of Malta.

Family background

He came from a Tuscan aristocratic family from which, for example, the cardinals Giandomenico Paracciani , Urbano Paracciani , Niccola Paracciani Clarelli and Salvatore Nobili Vitelleschi came from.
