Francis J. Mugavero

Francis John Mugavero (born June 8, 1914 in Brooklyn - † July 12, 1991 ) was an American Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Brooklyn .

Life

Francis J. Mugavero was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Brooklyn on May 18, 1940 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Brooklyn on July 15, 1968. The Apostolic Delegate in the USA, Archbishop Luigi Raimondi , donated him episcopal ordination on September 12 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Archbishop of New York , Terence James Cooke, and Auxiliary Bishop John Joseph Boardman of Brooklyn.

On February 20, 1990, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
