Thomas Vose Daily

Thomas Vose Daily (born September 23, 1927 in Belmont , Massachusetts - † May 14, 2017 in Queens , New York ) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Brooklyn .

Life

Thomas Vose Daily studied at Boston College and later at St. John's Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts. He was ordained priestly on January 10, 1952 by Cardinal Richard Cushing for the Archdiocese of Boston . From 1960 to 1965 he worked as a missionary in Peru, then secretary to the Archbishop of Boston, Humberto Cardinal Sousa Medeiros .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on December 31, 1974 auxiliary bishop in Boston and titular bishop of Bladia . The Archbishop of Boston, Humberto Sousa Cardinal Medeiros , donated him episcopal ordination on February 11 of the next year ; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops in Boston Thomas Joseph Riley and Lawrence Joseph Riley . In 1976 he was appointed vicar general.

On July 17, 1984, he was named first bishop of Palm Beach . He was named Bishop of Brooklyn on February 20, 1990, and served on April 18 of the same year. On August 1, 2003, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.

Thomas Vose Daily was the chaplain of the Knights of Columbus . He was a member of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America .
