Nicholas Anthony DiMarzio (born June 16, 1944 in Newark , New Jersey , USA ) is an American Roman Catholic clergyman and Bishop of Brooklyn .

Life

Nicholas Anthony DiMarzio received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Newark on May 30, 1970 .

September 10, 1996 Pope appointed him John Paul II. To the titular of Mauriana and auxiliary bishop in Newark. The Archbishop of Newark, Theodore Edgar McCarrick , ordained him episcopally on October 31 of that year ; Co-consecrators were Archbishop Emeritus of Newark, Peter Leo Gerety , and Coadjutor Bishop of Trenton , John Mortimer Fourette Smith .

On June 7, 1999, John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Camden . The inauguration took place on July 22 of the same year. John Paul II named him Bishop of Brooklyn on August 1, 2003 . The inauguration took place on October 3 of the same year.
