Francis Lü Shouwang ( Chinese  呂守旺 ; * 1966 ; † April 30, 2011 in Wuhan ) was a Chinese theologian and Roman Catholic bishop of the Yichang diocese in Hebei province .

Life

Francis Lü Shouwang, member of the indigenous Tujia , studied at the Theological and Philosophical Seminary for Central and Southern China in Wuhan and was ordained a priest in 1991 . After working in a parish, he taught moral theology and Bible studies in seminary in Wuhan.

In 1999 he was transferred to the diocesan administration by Bishop Paul Francis Zhang Mingqian OFM and appointed vicar general . After the death of Bishop Zhang in 2005, Francis Lü Shouwang was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. and with the approval of the Chinese state authorities, he was appointed bishop of the Ichang (Yichang) diocese in 2007 and consecrated on November 30, 2007 in St. Francis Cathedral in Yichang.

He died of complications from acute pancreatitis .
